イギリスの自動車免許があれば、ＥＵ国内どこでも運転できます。イギリスは日本と同様車は左車線を走るのですが、その他のほとんどの国は逆車線を走ります。運転に自信のない私ですがフランスで車を運転してみました。
フランスの高速道路の制限速度は通常１３０ｋｍ／時、天候不良の日１１０ｋｍ／時（どうやって見分けているのでしょう？）。日本では１００ｋｍ／時ですが、広くて道路が真っすぐ続くフランスではこれくらいのスピードでも大丈夫なのかもしれませんが、実際スピードを出す人も多く、事故も多いと聞きます。怖い・・・。助手席に座っていた夫は私の運転の方が怖かったみたいですが。
ちなみにイギリスの最高速度は２車線道路と高速道路は７０マイル／時（＝１１２ｋｍ／時）。それでも日本より早いですね。
If you have a UK driving licence, you can drive anywhere in EU countries. Cars run on the left hand side of the road in the UK, the same as in Japan. However, in most of the other EU countries, cars run on the right hand side. I wasn't a confident driver, nevertheless I tried driving in France the other day.
The speed limit on motorways in France is 130km/h in normal conditions and 110km/h in bad weather (I wonder how they decide the condition). Whereas in Japan the maximum speed on highways is 100km/h. Probably their roads are straight and broad enough to permit that speed although I hear that many people tend to drive at high speed and there are many accidents. It's scary for me. But my husband next to me seemed to be much more scared by my driving.
In the UK, the limit for dual carriageways and motorways is 70m/h (=112km/h), which is also faster than Japan.
