日本では「夕焼けは晴れ、朝焼けは雨」と言いますが、イギリスでも同じような言いまわしがあります。'Red sky at night, shepherd's delight. Red sky in the morning, shepherd's warning.' 「夕焼けになると羊飼いは喜び、朝焼けになると羊飼いは警戒する」。

In Japan, we say 'A red sky at night means clear (the next day), a red sky in the morning means rain,' which is similar to an English rhyme, 'Red sky at night, shepherd's delight. Red sky in the morning, shepherd's warning.'  

イギリスは日本と同じように偏西風の影響で、西から東に天気が変わるので、同じような表現があるようです。「羊飼い」（=shepherd）の代わりに船乗り(＝sailor)が使われることもあるようで、お国柄が感じられます。

The weather in the UK comes from the west under the influence of the prevailing wind as it does in Japan, which may explain the similarity in the expressions. Some use 'sailor' instead of 'shepherd', which also reflects a characteristic of the UK.
